Tatum Ranch Golf Club
About
The course at Tatum Ranch Golf Club is a true desert course due to its placement adjacent to the beautiful Sonoran Desert. The course has a target-style design that features subtly rolling fairways and greens that are large and undulating. Water hazards come into play, some in the form of ponds. There are also several sand bunkers strategically placed throughout but especially around the greens. The course is a challenge, but it offers a fun, fair game for golfers of all skill levels. Its location near residential areas causes the occasional appearance of homes on the course. Tatum Ranch Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 11th hole, which requires great control. Although the hole is not long, it is difficult with a narrow, guarded green.

aerification day
wasn't aware the course was being aerated. Had to play front nine twice as back nine was closed. Tee box to greens were all being treated. Good thing I didn't pay a lot
I'm sure its a nice course when its playable.
Poorly maintained
I can understand the bare patches on the fairways due to the heat but the greens are just not good enough.
Course is old fashioned and somewhat boring. Not worth going out of your way.
Staff was great, we got right off, was hot day so pace of play was super fast.
The course was a little dry, but greens were in good shape considering the heat,(110) We got off at one and were done at three-thirty. Pace of play was right up our alley, staff was polite and great to deal with.
great for the value
Being able to play a private course is always a perk. Great range, not nearly as packed as a public course.
Fast greens
Not too hard but still challenging, it require for you to use different clubs. The greens were very fast, but true
What a green they have?
Greens are true rolling and layouts are awesome! Beside long drive to get there, this is the course you want to play everyday! Make sure bring your A game out there!
Reasonably priced but a skimpy operation.
The golf operation is obviously on a very tight budget. No starter, no rangers on the course, very few helpers at bag drop and pickup, driving range in poor condition with old, beaten up pads to hit off of, putting practice area in poor condition. In the bar after our round there must have been 30 people and one staff person serving all of us - bartender and server.
wondeful experience
there must be 2 Tatum Ranch golf courses in Phoenix. I read previous reviews and was not sure what to expect. we were greeted by an attendant at the bag drop who directed us to the pro shop. 3or 4 members were gracious and friendly as we were checked in. The pro shop staff was helpful. the course was good with firm but fair greens. We teed off at 255 and completed 18 holes comfortably. A very positive experience. Those who have not enjoyed the course should try it again
very average course for the scottsdale, cave creek area.
some greens and fairways look like they had a disease, and no beverage service all day. No water in half the ball washers.
won't return, course not well maintained
Didn't know this course would allow 5 somes.......but they did....slowed play
Somewhat Arrogant Members
I have played this course a couple of times because it is very close to my home. Each time I have played, one or more of the regular members are somewhat arrogant and rude. They clearly do not like outsiders playing there course. Yesterday our foursome was yelled at by a member asking us to "Hurry the heck up". Of course we could not play any faster as there was another foursome in front of us playing at the same pace. We played the round in exactly four hours. I will never play this course again as there members are rude.
This courses greens were super fast. Hard to hold a good shot into it.
Great Course. Plenty of challenging holes. Very playable. The greens were super fast and not receptive to good high shots right onto the green. They always ran off the back. So you had to hit a distance in front of the green and let the rough slow the ball down to have a chance of staying on the green. Sometime the sand traps did not allow this. Overall the service was great especially the Drink Cart attendant.
Not so good
There was no starter. Also, I had to keep running to check on start time. There were no announcements for the golfers .
T boxes are marked horribly.
Putting greens were like concrete and grey looking.
Course ok, but staff needs direction.
No one at bag drop. Cashier at proshop seemed bothered and confused. No marshall on the course. We left on 14 after 5 1/4 hours of slow play.
Well manicured...
A beautiful course...we ended up playing a 5-hour round as they did not pair us (a twosome) with anyone. We were sandwiched between two foursomes ahead of us and on behind. Only one sand trap needed attention.v
Nice layout
Course played really fast especially the greens. Hard to hold shots on the greens. For someone new, the course is a little hard to navigate with respect to knowing where the next hole and tee are. Also, although yardages on sprinkler heads, there are still times when it's hard to get a good yardage. Never saw a ranger although pace of play was okay given this was a shotgun start in the PM.
ok with caveats, course is nice enough, but for the price I paid which was $80 I would try others before i would go back
We played on a day with a tournament which was not an issue. Practice facilities and staff were very nice although we had to wander to the first tee and just start. No starter and no guidance even though they said they would come and get us. I think we were the first foursome after the shotgun so I understand. Overall the course was nice, but for the discounted $80 price no deal and I certainly would not pay that to play again before trying others.
Would certainly recommend this course.
Loved the course- the fairviews were in great condition, the greens were in good shape- fast and true. The driving range needed some work. The other facilities for practice- sand, putting and pitching were excellent. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.Only negative was the pace of play- slow. This may have been do to the fact that we played on President's Day. On a few hole adjacent to the driving range there dozens of range balls just off the fairway makinf it very difficult to find your own mishit ball.Would happily play this course again.
Nice coarse to play
Overall, nice challenging holes but greens fast. I would play again at quoted rates & tee times available.
Beautiful desert course
We thou rightly enjoyed this course. We will return again. Course conditions were above expectations.
