Villa de Paz Golf Course was voted the top affordable 18-hole course in the Valley of the Sun, according to the Arizona Republic. The parkland course challenges top golfers, though it's not so difficult that beginners will wish they'd golfed elsewhere. After a 2002 remodel, the par-71 course measures 6,700 yards and offers water on 10 holes. If Phoenix in summertime intimidates, fear not: at Villa de Paz Golf Course, shade abounds, due to mature trees lining several fairways. Shoot for birdies or eagles, do so, but wisely. Reward has risk. Shooting sharply is especially required on holes like the fourth, a par-4 450-yarder with a severe right dogleg. Hitters dig the seventh, eighth and 15th, par 4s that can be nailed from the tee. The 18th mixes distance and skill. The par-4 470-yarder doglegs right and requires a carry over a lake to reach the three-tiered green. Fancy a warm-up before the Villa de Paz Golf Course? nice course
the course was going thru overseeding so conditions were not ideal but still very fun
Mosquitos
The fairways were cut way short so not much grass underneath. Rough was deep and a lot of cut grass mounded up in spots as well as lots of Goose manure. There were also a lot of mosquitos with the green water on the course.
Terrible service
The course is trying to improve it condition. It is a shame they spend money on the course and have someOne like Casey working there. He is rude, self centered, inconsiderate, and no respect for the pace or rules of the game. He allows groups of 5 and 6 to go out. Now around of golf is roughly 6 hours
it is a shame the ownership is trying to improve the course on the outside, but know effort is done to the personal in side!

Hot course on a hot day
My son and I played on the hottest day of the year so far (114 on the course) but it was a great round as always. We had the whole course to ourselves (or so it seemed) because it was so hot. Staff was great but since there were so few players the concession lady went home early. We have played here before and will be back again. Great place to play.

LITTLE JEWEL
A really nice course and very affordable - would definitely play again. Pace of play was very slow. Groups in front of us wouldn't let us play through, skins game ahead of were very slow & no marshalls. We played the front twice to stay away from the slow play. Beverage cart had minimal choices for food. Other than Pace of Play - great course!

watch for hidden hazards
Course had several bare spots, there are a few places by hitting too much club or going astray got me into trouble, layout is ok. Even though the course was not crowded players ahead let me play through. The staff is great and pleasant.

Should be cheaper for course
Not a horrible course, but paid more for a lower quality course than compared to surrounding area. Got out early and pretty quick pace. Easy to find cheaper/better course with Golfnow. Probably won't play this course again
Ridiculous pin placements
Like playing your course. But this ridiculous pin placements on Saturdays to accommodate your men's club will have all of us going elsewhere. This isn't Sunday at the masters. Most of your clientele do not like this.

Goose do everywhere.
Goose do was all over the course especially the 18th green. You couldn't put your foot on the green without stepping in do and putting, forget it you would have to sweep the greens to get a decent view of the lie.

You can get a good rate and use as warm up round.
Ground was hard but 3hrs to play 18 is set

Dirty!
The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty! The course layout was not very good, going through a neighborhood with no signs when you can't see the next hole.

Do not play here
The course set up causes slow play. No grass on the fairways. Greens are in vey poor condition

Pace of play and course conditions were horrible. Will not go back
As stated in the previous comment, the course has not taken the seasonal overseeding this year as well as in years past. We are trying our best to have the course back in great shape. Thank you.
Played this course Jan/2016. All I have to say is what happen? The houses around the course are falling apart the course looks terribly. The last time I played this course was 2003 was hard to get a tee time back then always busy. It sad to say it looks like a ghetto now. If I was a longtime member or longtime homeowner by this course I would be extremely upset. One other thing have an open season on ducks and geese.

Diamond in the rough.
Yes, the course could be in better condition, but is quite playable. Tees and greens were fine, fairways a little ragged. There are some very interesting and challenging holes. If you overlook the less than perfect conditions, and just play the course; I think you will enjoy it. With just a little upgrading this could be a fine course.

Over all conditions
The greens were pretty good but there were places at some of the tee boxes and fairways that were very wet and muddy

Very Disappointed
The fairways lacked grass coverage. Ball washers were missing. Dirt on slopes around the greens. The course was also muddy on a clear day. Finally, staff friendliness left a lot to be desired. Need I go on? Please take my individual experience for what it is worth. If you play this course, I hope that you can make the best of it. Good luck!

Challenging course for beginners
Fairways had lots of bare areas. Greens were rough. Golf carts need some maintenance.
Overall had a good time though with good weather and good company.

Rediscovering an old friend
Used to play this course back in the 90's, then moved to Seattle in 2003. Conditions were good back then. Grass conditions were very poor, with overseeding barely covering the ground. Struggled to find decent lies. Played it only because of the low price, but won't play it again due to poor grass conditions.
