Union Hills Golf & Country Club
About
The golf course at the Union Hills Country Club is a championship course with a traditional layout. The course has been named one of the Top Ten Private Courses in Arizona. The design features four lakes and two winding creeks that create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. There are also several sand bunkers present. Some of the golf course's greens are elevated and the fairways are average sized in width. The signature hole is the par-4 14th hole, which requires a carry over water. Union Hills Country Club also has a putting green and full driving range for golfers to use.

Good Pace of Play
Good pace of play. Staff is friendly. Course is in decent shape.
Average course, and..
Average course, and the parking lot has clearly been abandoned - evidently its direct maintenance funds are not available or not being spent. Specifically the earth around it has not been kept up or tended to. Dried out, and a very third-world feel and look to it. The parking lot surface area was not the best either.
As to the course itself, since non-fairway areas were very dried out, it was penal if one was not in the fairways or close to the greens. The greens, while having great contour, were not in the best of shape either. Pace of play was great, and playing companions were solid. As well, all the staff and the outdoor concession stand at the turn were both excellent.
Pace was a bit slow but the course was in good shape.
First time playing since new ownership. Amenities have been upgraded but beverage and food prices have risen substantially. Green fees were less expensive than other courses for this time of year. Course was in good condition.
Pace was slower than usual. Groups ahead had no sense of urgency or desire to pick up the pace. Finally let us play through then ran into same issue again. Most slow play groups were out of town visitors here for spring training.
Good course for the money
Well organized and fairways were in great shape. Off the fairways was mostly brown but many other courses were as well. Overall really enjoyed the course and I think it was a good value for the money
greens and fairways were in good condition, tee box and bunkers need attention.
Overbook much?
Had a 3pm tee time and didn’t expect to finish 18 only to find out they were at least a half hour behind. To their credit they did offer us a refund but disappointed they had booked so heavily.
Rained Out
Only did 7 out of 18 holes due to heavy rain. Course did not offer rainchecks or partial refunds :( Expensive 7 holes.
Rained Out
Our group of 4 attempted to golf in the rain until it stared to pour when we were on hole 7. Went back to the clubhouse and had lunch as we waited for it to let up. When it didn’t we thought we could get a rain check for 9 at least. Very disappointed that was not an option. You either go back out in the rain or lose out the expensive rates we paid. We left but will not be going back to this course in the future.
Union hills
We play union hills every year we come to Phoenix. This is not a high end course but that is exactly why we love playing here. Course was in great winter condition. Played in 3 hrs! Good value at $180 for my wife and I c/w cart. Will play again next winter!!
Coming Back
This course was formerly a country club and had past its prime. New ownership is taking steps to upgrade the course, but there have been no big changes yet. Workmen had dug up overgrowth around one of the ponds near the 5th hole and they had a pretty good overseed. Fairways were all full and lush. Greens were also in good shape. The rough areas are still a bit sketchy with matted, patchy Bermuda. So it will be a while yet, but there have been some baby steps.
