The Talking Stick Golf Club, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, offers two uniquely different courses that each offer many options according to your playing skill. The Piipaash course (previously known as South at Talking Stick Golf Club), with its tree-lined fairways and raised greens defended at the sides offers a more straightforward style of play than the O'odham Course (formerly known as North at Talking Stick Golf Club).

A round of golf on the Piipaash Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club kicks off on a par-4 hole that measures 405 yards from the Black tees. Three long par-5 holes ensures that power golfers will get their kicks, with the fifth hole coming in at 516 yards, the 1fourth measuring 541 and the 16th playing to 548. The round of golf concludes on a relatively shorter par 4 that measures 323 yards.

After a round of golf on the North Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club, head back to the Wildhorse Grille for drinks and a bite to eat.

A top place to play

I played with a good friend on a vacation trip. We are both 12-15 handicap golfers. We played the O'odham courses. Conditions were immaculate everywhere on the course. Greens and bunkers were as good as any I've ever played. Critical to play the right tee boxes. We played the second longest tees, Gold, 6,510 yards. It's a bit long for me but I had no problem carrying the waste areas and hitting fairways. I did hit more 4 hybrids than 8 irons to the green than normal, but the course didn't feel too long if you're 225+ off the tees. The next shorter tees were 5,945, which seemed too short for us. In hindsight we made the right choice. The course is not difficult in you play the right tees.
We played 3 courses while in the area: here, Camelback-Ambiente and We-Ko-Pa-Saguaro. All the courses were excellent but pricey. We preferred We-Ko-Pa for the scenic beauty and elevation changes, but O'odham was excellent with the most generous fairways. The clubhouse is begin redone in 2023 so the enmities were rather spartan but worked well for us. Hot coffee and a wonderful burrito breakfast sandwich on a cool morning really hit the spot. All the people working there were fantastic, and we would definitely play it again.

Good course not great

Greens in very good condition for a resort course

The club house just started construction (Jan 2023) and will be out of commission until late 2024. Food truck and portable trailer bathrooms. No changing area.

Course Layout is fine. Nothing memorable. A lot of back and forth fairways

Ropes everywhere to prevent going onto other fairways or to avoid going off course. However zero white stakes.

Fair market value for this sort of course is $150-200 max. Don’t pay more.

Staff was great people. Every position very friendly

The pace is so slow and was told that never play here on weekends. Marshall was around but for some reason, every single hole, we had to wait for at least 10 minutes. We could not finish 18 holes as it was already dark. Very disappointed with my experience at this golf course.

Nice enough 36 hole layout in the flatlands, but nothing to write home about. We played on a rainy day so the pace was great but they had no amenities - no towels, no covers for your clubs, no GPS, very few marked sprinkler heads. Layouts were challenging enough, there was a fair bit of length, and the greens were very nice but overall this was an $80 course, so even considering the hundred dollar inflation you pay for every course in the area, value felt short.
