Apache Creek Golf Club
About
Although there are many other desert golf courses in the Phoenix area, Apache Creek Golf Club offers one challenging championship course that requires the use of every club. The golf course features wide open fairways and undulating greens that are sloped back to front, some are also double-tiered. There are also numerous sand and grass bunkers protecting the fairways and greens. Extensive mounding on the course cause uneven lies and water hazards come into play on a few holes. The most difficult of the several demanding holes on this golf course, is the lengthy par-5, 10th hole. Apache Creek Golf Club also boasts two practice greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sand trap, and a large driving range with various targets.

Desert course
Easy to find. Easy check in. The cashier seems to recognize me. Getting more spendy. Clean older carts with ball/club washer and sand bottles. Water at starter. Tees getting a little beat and often not too level. Fairways pretty good Roughs pretty sparse grass. Lots of desert. Bunkers have at least some sand though some pretty wet. Greens good this year. Medium speed and often not flat. No drinking water on course. Some toilets. Water bucket for towels at start and 10th. Played in 4:15. Can’t take carts to car. Hard to turn left exiting at end of day
Quick but fun round
Had the third tee time of the day and flew through the course. The greens were in great shape.
The restaurant was terrific! Love the breakfast sandwich and they were so friendly.
In general, you have to be consistent and straight, or you will play from the desert, which I did more than I planned. But even then, I still had a shot.
Most Improved Golf Course
Been playing here occasionally for about 10 years and I'm impressed with the changes. Thank you.
Desert course
Easy to find. Easy check in. Carts clean and have ball and club cleaner. Water from starter. Tees could use some leveling. Fairways mostly pretty good Roughs with sparse grass. Lots of desert. Greens pretty good shape and moderately fast. Bunkers mostly in fair shape and can get out. Some pretty wet. Played in 4 hrs hard to exit left at end of day
Desert course
Easy to find. Easy check in. Carts cleaned and ball and club cleaners on carts. Water bottles at start. Tees not too beat up yet. Fairways cut pretty nice and in pretty fair shape. Lots of desert areas. Roughs pretty thin. Greens all nicely cut and fairly fast. Bunkers at least have some sand but some fairly wet. No drinking water on course. Chipping to green good cuz grass mowed around greens. Played in just over 3 hrs. Can’t take carts to car. Not easy to leave and turn left late in day. Better than last year.
AC
Pace of play was terrible! Should not take 5 hrs for 18 holes on this course. There was a ranger, but the play was still slow.
Pretty Brutal Experience at Apache Creek
OK...First and foremost...I have played this course 20-30 times in the past 5 years. Typically, pace of play is not a big issue.
Playing yesterday, we had a 1:15 tee time, hoping to finish 18 holes before dark. Teed off at 1:28PM (They were running behind), and played the front 9 in about 2 hrs and 30 minutes. Waiting on every hole, for every shot.
Our group decided to quit after 9-holes, because of the slow pace. We found out that there had been a big group on the course earlier and it slowed everything down. The guys at the cart barn apologized profusely, but what really agitated me was that I mentioned that it would have been prudent to have a "Ranger" on the course to help move things along. Well maybe ownership knew it was going to be a train wreck on the course, because they sent the Ranger home at 2:00 PM.
Paying $65 to play, we should have the opportunity to at least finish our round before it is dark at 5:30ish. It is just a shame to pay that amount of money for a round of golf...then get jacked before you even hit your first ball. As a side note, the fairways are greens were in pretty good shape. Buyer Beware...
Very enjoyable place to play
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice course and it is in good shape. Greens roll true and good speed. Plenty of challenge, yet fair. Great afternoon of golf!
Moving in the right direction
This course is moving in the right direction. The day we played it poured at the start and again when we made the turn. The course held up great with minimal water standing. Pace of play was right at 4 hours which wasn’t too bad. A fun time with family. Thank you
