Vistal Golf Club sits at South Mountain's base, and features an 18-hole course and spectacular vistas to the Valley of the Sun and Phoenix. It's coming off a 2000 redesign by PGA Tour Design Services, which consulted tour golfers Tom Lehman, Billy Mayfair, and Howard Twitty. Open again since the end of 2001, the golf course offers four sets of tees, allowing players to shoot anywhere from 5,235 yards to 7,013 on the par-71 golf course, with its various challenges, testing placement through more than 80 bunkers.
The golf course at the Vistal Golf Club has desert-style hazards, water features and mountain-side elevations, but the idea is for golfers to have a ball overall, and so management pipes the classic rock music through the clubhouse and practice zone.
