Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Nice track.
Played as a single. My GPS was useless as the course layout has recently been altered. In addition there was no course map and as a result it became tricky knowing where exactly all the hazards were located. Greens are very firm but putted well. Completed round in a bit over 3 hours.
Great well maintained course!
The course was in great shape. They are doing tons of new construction including a new club house which looks to be awesome. The course is a bit challenging due to the tight fairways. The staff was awesome!
Verde River is an Outstanding Course
Played at 1PM on a Saturday in mid-march. Never saw another golfer. Pace of play was great. The course is beautiful and the views are outstanding. The tees and fairways are pristine except for some areas on the 3 new holes. Greens were accepting of a good shot as well. A suggestion; a little print out on the par 4 holes that have a ravine that comes into play indicating the distance to the ravine. No GPS makes it guess work and would not cost much.
Weekend price was very high and was evident by how few people were there in the PM. $55 higher than Mondays costs seems a little extreme. However, the course was a great experience. Worth the drive and we will be back.
Course is beautiful!
Course layout has changed a bit from last year. Will be an awesome place when all the construction is complete.
Great views on every hole!
This a very beautiful and well maintained golf course.
And all level of handicap players would enjoy this course.
The surrounding landscape and permanent buildings are still under construction, and for this reason I feel the non resident fee was a little pricey for now.
Also, it would have been courteous, if the four golfers in front of us, would have allowed myself and my girlfriends to play through.
Otherwise, great golf course!
First Outing
Spectacular course! The staff is very friendly and the course conditions are excellent. There is a lot of construction taking place - new clubhouse, lots of housing being built and the cart paths, restrooms, etc. are under construction - but the views and the course layout make this a must-play course. Once the homes are built and the number of golfers increases, I fear the cost will go up substantially so play it now!
Not like it use to be
I have played this course several time in the past before the make over. For $138.00 definitely not a deal. Staff was more interested to talk on the phone and let others know the course will be private in the future while I waited to check in. The greens were extremely hard and it was lightly raining when we played. The tee boxes are small and extremely hard, good luck trying to take a divot even from a tee. Lots of transplanted grass that made it difficult to play it where it lies. Unfortunately I do hit it off the fair way now and then, when I did I had to move our/my ball because of construction tracks in the dessert, poorly maintained area. No distance markers and no GPS for this price you would expect some thing marked you can by a course book for $14.00 where all other course we played last week only wanted $4.00. No club house other than a small shed where you can get a microwave hot dog. Construction noise every where as well as construction going on. Had to wait for trucks going down the cart paths to clear before teeing off. I think they are trying to recoup their construction money back immediately. Much better course in the past will not recommend it any more and will not go back with my group.
Jewel in the Making
Although i have played Verde River a few times in the past, I have never played THIS iteration of the course. It's been turned around, flipped upside down, and re-carved into something that shows it will be spectacular one day. And probably one day soon. And while the course is being seeded, landscaped, and grown as you play, it is in great shape. The fairways are soft and the greens are slick. I was impressed with the sand in the bunkers as well. Perhaps the best sand I saw this week in playing four different courses. I hear that the course is going private in about 18 months, but I hope they don't. I'm a visitor, not a local and I'd hate to think I'd never be able to play here again. At the very least, I need to get back here one last time after they have completed the new clubhouse. It should be amazing.
Oh, yes. And the vistas. I forgot to mention those. As good as they get.
Grip and Rip
Enjoyed the course. Would play it again. Once all the infrastructure is completed and giving time for course to mature, it will be a great venue for golf. Will be interesting to see if it remains public, semi-public, or private.
Course needs to mature.
Areas around greens and greens themselves are still very hard from the Lehman project. They don't receive or hold shots at all. Considerable amount of construction is taking place(both home building by Shea and course building clubhouse, comfort stations, etc.) I won't play this course again until all of this comes to a close(probably 2 years from now.)
Better than before
We liked the new layout of the course, somehow feels like haven't played before. There are many tight lies and firm turf, hard to get used too. I hope they keep it nice when it gets warmer. Will play again
Well laid out
One of my favorites greens are great wind was blowing very hard! Course still played v.fair
Course on the Mountain
We had a great time the course is spectacular great views of the mountains. The course is for any level of golfer there are several tee boxes for all levels of golf the greens were perfect. When the construction on the new club house is done I am sure that will beautiful. We played after a heavy rain some of the fairways don't drain as completely there was standing water on the 18 fairway but very playable this is a course we will play again. Great job Tom Lehman kudos to you and your staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great course and variety of holes. Excellent condition.
A number of forced carries over washes requires good course management and decision making.
Will definitely play this course again.
Good layout
Nice layout, greens were good, a couple of the holes were a little rough, sod was still growing in and a lot of rain recently. The staff were great to deal with. I got a great deal from golf now. This course is a little remote but is worth it.
Great play
Have played this course few times. Excellent fairways very nicely manicured. Greens just a little firm but speed of greens excellent. Bunkers were very nicely maintained with sufficient sand to be aggressive to the hole. One of the best courses in the Scottsdale area. Excellent friendly staff. Pla if you get the chance, i don't think you will be disappointed.
Verde river golf and social club
The course was in terrible condition, the inside service staff was less than pleasant, and the starter was rude. He delayed our tee time for a couple that plays there frequently, afterwards we spent the majority of the day waiting on them. The overall condition of the course was so poor that I feel like it was not worth the rate. the rate misleads people to believe the course is in good shape, which it is not.
