Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
About
The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.
"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

Nice Course Great Conditions
Conditions were great especially the greens. No issue on conditions and pace of play. The staff did a great job and all were pleasant and I would definitely come back.
Best course conditions in Phoenix
The fairways and greens are in great shape. Also found, much to my disgust, that the sand traps are in great shape with soft, deep sand.
The fairways are wide and forgiving and there isn't any water on the O'odham course.
The staff were very helpful in getting me set up. I was greeted at the range and given a verbal outline of how the morning would progress until tee time.
Overall a very good experience.
Definite stop in Phoenix, AZ
Incredible course conditions for December Fairways so we’ll kept, large greens very well manicured. We enjoyed our round and would definitely play here again!
Checked most of the boxes
First time here and although the course wasn’t memorable from a design standpoint, it checked most of the boxes for me. We were the 3rd time off and played in 3:50. Didn’t see any marshals . Conditions were better than average. WIDE OPEN fairways. Great option for the average player. No GPS on carts but most holes had obvious landing areas.
When i can play 18 in under 4 hours on a Sunday at a daily fee course , I’m happy. It’s worth $100 in season. Staff very friendly.
Finally played Talking Sticks
I’ve been golfing in the valley for years and avoided teeing it up here for years. Colleagues had said it was flat and pretty much uneventful.. Yes it’s a pretty straight forward course with little in elevation change. That said it’s in flawless condition the greens were quick and to me difficult to read.. Great view and not a house lined track. Overall fun to play and forgiving fairways so you can let the driver go. Enjoyable day.overall
A good day
Staff and range were excellent. Design is not exciting but a very good resort course.
A perfect course to start a golf trip on.
Played the course for the first time and was very pleased with the layout and condition. I hadn’t played for about two months and it was a great track to play after a lay-off. Fairly wide fairways and receptive greens that rolled true. The staff in the pro shop and the starter were warm and welcoming.
TSGC North Course
I played the Talking Stick North Course which is my favorite of the 2 18's with its wider fairways, and longer holes. The course was in excellent condition. I recommend this course and this club to anyone. If you are a local and haven't signed up for their players card you should do so since it includes both breakfast and lunch with your round, and if you are going to be in town for the winter or a number of time a year I would also recommend purchasing the players card.
Talking Stick oodam Course
This course is a scenic and challenging track. The fairways are well maintained and surrounded by native grass areas which are considered off limits. The greens are fast and tricky to read. The bunkers are among the few with aactual sand in them so playing out of them is easier. There are natural pitfalls incorporated in the lengthy fairways.
The practice area is well stocked and maintained. The 19th hole is well served and staff are veryfriendly, helpful, and well groomed. The resort itself is close by and the restaurants are amazing, it is a pleasure to play this course and make use of the facilities. I would recommend anyone try it.
Very nice course
Staff were great, course was in excellent shape. Greens were very fast. The pace slowed down on the back nine. Had a very good time.
Talking Stick Golf Course
Staff very professional throughout my time there. Club house very nice. Adequate practice facility. Overall this course is designed to help golfers of most any skill level to land tee shots in the fairways. Most par 4s and 5s fairways are like hitting on a wide open practice range making it very easy to keep teeshots in the fairways. The approach areas had some challenges as the greens are well bunkered. The greens rolled smoothly with speed around 9. Overall it was a pleasant day on this golf course.
First Timer
Played Talking Stick North. The course was in good shape. The pace of play was a little slow. It was a 5 hour round. The staff was very friendly.
Played Great during and after Storm
We teed off in torrential downpour! Course looked like it would flood. One hour into our round it stopped raining and the incredible drainage allowed for first class playing conditions. Fun and challenging course!
decent course for decent price
Pros: Price, good condition of course, good pace of play
Cons: No beverage cart, yardage markers not visible due to failure to trim grass, transition areas under repair or improvement, cart died
I play this course semi-regularly and it is reliably in decent shape, especially fairways and greens.
Talking Stick Oodam course
This course is in great shape for this time of year and is very picturesque. There are some challenges that require thought and shot placement. The greens are slightly unpredictable and the fairways are wide open. This course offers just the right amount t of challenge for the average golfer. I would reccomend playing it.
Aside from the course itself, players have to keep this course groomed by filling divots and ball Mark's on the greens as well as taking traps.
Good time to play Talking Stick
Like both tracks, north and south. Played north this time which was in great shape. Caught a “cool” July morning which made the discounted summer round extra enjoyable. I steer away from this course in prime season due to $ but for $43 it was a bargain. Plenty of fairway on this course; good, challenging bunkers; greens are big and a bit undulated but fun. Strongly recommend Talking Stick. Great views of greater Phoenix mountain ranges.
Great pace of play
Tees off a little after 7am and finished before 11am , as a 4-some. All the groups ahead kept up the pace and allowed a sub 4 hour round. Course was in good shape and the greens were faster and smoother than the practice green.
