Although it has a desert landscape, the course is still lush with a canal that runs through it, a lake, and plush Bermuda grass greens, the former two creating water hazards that come into play on several holes. The San Marcos Golf Resort course is challenging with each hole having at least three bunkers. The two most difficult holes on the golf course are two lengthy par 4s, the fourth and the 10th.
