Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
About
The Pine Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers mature pines, in an appropriate contrast to its sibling golf course, the Pine Course, and is also narrower than the other golf course. What they have in common include the facts that Desmond Muirhead designed both of them and they both date back to 1972; recent renovations have also given both golf courses new greens, sand traps and bridges.
The Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club measures 7,187 yards, kicking off on a 398-yard par 4 that requires tee shot toward the fairway's center, leaving golfers a mid- to short-iron from the green, which slopes narrowly. Things get long by the fourth hole, one of four par-5 holes that come in at over 500 yards; this one, for example, makes you place your drive well toward right-center if you want to shoot for it in two. Close out the round of golf on the 18th hole, another long one, at 517 yards from the blue tees, and a tight hole to drive that will, thankfully, provide your last test for the day.

Prime Location & Great Conditions
Course was in great shape! Greens were immaculate, maybe just a little sandy in the morning. Outside service & golf shop staff were super helpful. It was little pricey, but hard to blame them when they’re dead center scottsdale & booked out on a Saturday morning.
Friendly staff, great conditioned course for the money.
Great place to play. Greens were in good shape and course overall was in good condition. Although I didn’t find the fairways a lot, they were in good shape. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Players need to fix their ball marks more on the greens but that is somewhat expected on a public course.
Fantastic conditions
Fairways were amazing (when I found them) views were spectacular and hole 15 might be my favorite hole I’ve ever played. Staff was friendly and we were behind 2 foursomes and the pace was still good
Great condition
Just coming off overseeding the course was in perfect conditions. Felt like a carpet with zero pitch marks, beautiful and true greens. Just such a good time out there.
Watch out
Don’t forget your putter. Challenging putting but must fun. Great conditions and best played (not) in the winter when the wind blows through like an icy zephyr. Lol
Not fantastic for the rate
Course is OK shape, however for the cost compared to others similar, it is sub-par.
Greens very sandy and bumpy. Cart paths need repair. Fairways in average condition. Seems like course was over watered. Many sand traps were full of water and/or portions unplayable due to be muddy. If these are summer conditions, prices should be reduced and it should be mention on websites
Fairway Dirt
Awesome layout and staff was great. Lots of different holes. Fairways have lots of dirt on them in many areas. You pipe one 240-250 down the middle and expect to be in grass, not one clump of grass surrounded by dirt/mud. But that’s my only issue. Really good course.
Nice course with really good green
First time playing and was pleased with the course and will play again in the future. This was a fair layout with not a lot of trouble. There is water on the course not too dangerous except on a couple of long carries if you play the blue teas. I was very pleased with how well the greens held without a lot of roll out. They putted pretty true but there are a few "hidden" breaks that will be learned after playing a few rounds.
Fun Course
We played on a Sunday morning in May and the course was very busy. We had to wait at several tee boxes for the group in front of us to clear. Overall the course was fun with occasional water and oddly shaped fairways. I would play this course again.
Paying for Location
First time playing this course and let me say, IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It's May 20th and 96 degrees out and they are still trying to justify in-season green fees with dying fairway grass. I played the Pine course, and hole 18 green was half dead with half of it brown. My wife tagged along to check out the scenery and read a book, they charged us a $49.99 "observer" fee for her going. There are several other courses in the area, I would advise you to try those first. I am from the area and am pretty disappointed.
Nice course, nice staff ok amenities. Course layout was fine. Only got lost once.
Course knowledge is key. Look at the gps
