Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

No water, bar closed, rough greens and fairways
For a course to have zero water options for patrons in Phoenix in June is crazy. Even a water fountain to refill my own bottle would suffice. And since the bar/grill was closed we couldn’t go in there for water options either. We were told we could buy individual Gatorade bottles… you’d need 4-5 to get through the round when it’s 100+ degrees.
For the low $20 price, you can’t expect too much, so the fact that some of the fairways and greens were in rough shape can be expected for a summer round in the desert. The sand traps were crunchy. Not in great shape, but you can take that with a grain of salt considering the cost and time of year
Overall conditions for this time of year were good
Played in 3:50 as a foursome on a Saturday afternoon with waits at only a few holes ... overall a great experience.
Can’t beat it for $20
Paid $20 for a weekday afternoon to play 18. You can’t beat that deal anywhere right now. Course is in decent shape considering summer conditions. Would definitely play again
Best golf course in Tempe
No wait
Able to tee off early
Good speed of play

Great staff, including Larry as a starter, Des in the restaurant. Got out early. Just wish you could drive the cart on the 9th fairway.
In regards to water fountains on the course... they were all out of order, as was verified by the clubhouse, who told us "there's no water available on the course" and suggested we stock up on gatorades. So there's that.
There are several water fountains located around the course. Use your eyes, don't be a dick.
