Deceptive
The only super nice holes are the ones you can see from the clubhouse, they fully overseeded the fairways and rough and they look beautiful. They are also cartpath only to keep them that way.
The greens are horribly bumpy and inconsistent. If you aren't in the fairway the other 16 holes the conditions are very sub par with lots of bare spots and spotty bermuda.
I was hoping for a lot more from this course, especially since Troon took it over. Maybe they should have spent the money they are spending on the kitchen remodel and spend it on the course. It's a shame, it's such a nice layout and used to be such a stellar course.
Slow play
Course was in good condition given amount of rain the day before but despite course rangers riding the course throughout the day it was almost a 5 1/2 hour round..no explanation. Worth playing one time if in the area. Will be anxious to see the course renovations that will happen this summer since Troon took over last year as it will make this course better.
Nice fairways and greens
Overall nice condition greens too slow price too high
9 holes in Rain
Hard to evaluate as we had huge downpour on the 2nd hole. We were soaked and cold after nine so quit and grabbed something to eat and drink. Club offered nine hole rain checks but didn’t apply because it was booked and paid through Golf Now.
A real nice track w zero customer service
The course is in great shape except for the teeboxes. The boxes are not well maintained at all. Chewed up and uneven accross each tee. Absolutely no excuse. The rest of the course is well kept enough. The greens can get dry and fuzzy on the back nine. Two completely different putting experiences. The halfway house has a delicious $9 Hot Dog or Brat for $10. Excellent! There are no ball washers on any holes or on carts. The cart girl was the friendliest person on the course. The bag boys are in their own little world, not helpful nor courteous to anyone especially the older golfers that need direction, information, help, attention, anything! They're too busy for any customer service. I've never seen them greet nor offer information to several men that needed it. It was my first time at this course and I didn't know the program. Even the Starter was not friendly. Not sure how you get in this business and not be a little fake friendly? A little bit of information would sure keep your golf club running smooth. Just no patience no courtesy. I like the course, shot 78. Hit Driver on only 5 holes.
2nd play
We played a 2nd time & brought friends. The pace of olay still a bit slow. Greens are nice & plush which results in slower roll. We wanted to stop for a cocktail when we finished at 6 pm but the clubhouse & bar were closed.
Great shape
This is a really nice layout. Even though houses line the course, they don’t come into play. The greens were a little furry but rolled true.
Slow greens
Course is a good layout, people are great, however the day i played the greens were healthy but extremely slow almost like they werent cut that day, very disappointing running about 6.5 and very bumby.
Course improved greatly. Marshall needed
This course has improved greatly under management of Troon and can be played for a reasonable price in Phoenix. Pace was somewhat slow with no marshall around. Tee times could be spaced better to improve pace of play. Overall very good. Recommend you play here
Great day at foothills
Staff is so friendly and the course is in great condition. Only complaint is the cart path only on 1 and 18 slows the pace of play. I could see doing it from 125 on in - especially on 18 if you want the grass pristine for wedding photos but 18 is a long par 4 as it is.
Tough but fair
Course was in good shape. It rewarded some shots but definitely hurt bad ones. Was told by our playing partner that the course recently went under new ownership and has vastly improved. They expect it to only get better. One last thing, if you want an excellent old fashion cheeseburger - get the Colin Burger at the turn. It was amazing. The chef, Colin, makes it fresh when you order and delivers to you on 10 green. It was so good we had another on at the end of the round. If I don’t go back for the golf, I’ll go back for the burger!
Great round of golf
Fun golf course. Fantastic conditions, friendly staff and perfect weather. Highly recommend Foothills golf course.
Wicked burst of rain and wind
We never got to play. Wicked wind and rain came through while we were at the range. The person in the golf shop gladly gave us a full refund and when I asked if he would book us for a future round he was happy to oblige. My wife and I couldn’t ask for more. See you soon Foothills Golf..

Play well after a heavy rain
Great course! It was a lot of fun to play, in gyrest condition. It had just rained before we started and the course didn’t show any sign of it There were a few puddles on the cart paths, but overall it was pretty gtreat!
Oasis in the Desert
I have played this course 3 times this year. It is a fun course, with some challenges.
The tee boxes, fairways and greens are well kept. The tee boxes are crowned and occasionally placement of the box markers make it challenging for a level stance for the tee shot.
They keep the pin placement challenging, protecting them with well placed bunkers.
They greens, though well kept, tend to roll a little slow compared to other area courses. The pace of the greens is also affected by the natural topography too. They don't call it the Foothills by chance.
Overall it is a beautiful course with lots of green grass in the desert. Fun to play.
