Desert Sands is in very good condition right now!
Overseed is gone and 90 degree rule for golf carts is in place. The conditions are getting better everyday.
The fairways are a little long but are being mowed and the greens are are a little slow but improving each day.
This is a good course to walk if you can.
They seem to have newer golf carts that are really nice. The dash board on these carts are very well designed. Lots of room for all kinds of things.
Give it a try,!
Getting better all the time
Desert sands golf course has and is continuing course improvements. Give it a try!
Great golf day
Perfect weather, very good course layout, but cart path only this time if year and letting fairways get to be over grown with height is a pain, but nice time meeting new people also.
Enjoyable small course
Course is getting better after over seeding. Greens are slow because they are not rolled and cut short but I expect this will be taken care of as we start the new winter season. Still cart path only at present but overall an enjoyable exec. Course
Greens held the ball
With the reseeding, the greens were slow and held the ball great. Greens are domed and its usually hard to hold the green, but they were in excellent shape as were the fairways. Shot under my age!!
value for money, but course still needs work
Just finished overseeding so still cart on path only, play will take longer.
They are letting the grass grow before cutting so some parts are thick and rough, some parts are just mud and dry dirt.
There are alot of houses surrounding the fairways so have to be careful not to hit wide or far, can be stressful for first time / new golfers.
Staff are relaxed and friendly, and this is one of the last courses that allows you to drive cart back to carpark to load / offload
Pace of play nightmare. Decent conditions incoming after overseed though.
This course always plays slow but coming out of overseeding it was WAY too slow. Had to bail after 3hrs and only 13 holes played so we wouldn't miss our flight 3 hours later. Didn't trust the last 5 holes could get played in less than 90 more minutes. A 4-1/2 hour round here is just too dang slow no matter the time of year. The more "seasoned" locals in the 3-4 groups in front of us should just wait until they can drive the cart right up to their ball before trying to play during the cart path only weeks. With the MULTIPLE older gents in employee shirts that were just driving around the course in golf carts all day long, you'd think they could enforce ready play golf quite a bit better than not at all...
But, with that said, the greens were already in MUCH better shape than past seasons. Should play quite well once they get it mowed down in another week or two. Will give it a shot again when I'm back visiting in February. Hopefully the super seniors get it in gear and play a lot
faster!
Slow your roll
Fairways are still a little long very slow. No roll. Greens are very sticky. No role the tee boxes can use a little work.
BEST PRICE TO PLAY RATIO AROUND RIGHT NOW
The course was cart path only and the grass on the greens was super long almost where you had to put with a driver. BUT GREAT PLAY IN ANY CASE.
The winter grass was excellent. The staff was inclredibly nice in the pro shop. Pace of play was fast enough Finished in under 4 hours.
FOR THE PRICE ITS UNBEATABLE.
WHILE IT SEEMS EVERY OTHER COURSE IS DOUBLING THEIR NORMAL FALL RATE, THIS COURSE KEPT IT REAL.
A Nice Basic Short Course
My wife and I played 18 holes in mid morning. The course was reopened after reseeding and carts were cartpath only. Pace of play was fine and course conditions were nice with the new grass. Greens were even but quite slow as expected. The course layout is basic. There are few hazards in play. Greens are smallish and sloped away from the center. Your chipping game will come in handy as approach shots tend to run off. Overall, a nice course for working on your irons and short game, and for beginners or short-hitters.
Awful experience!! All dirt and greens have a big volcano in the middle of them!!!
Lady in the pro shop was a joke. She rushed us out there and nobody was on the golf course.3 times kept yelling at us to tee off. You hit your shots and is big cloud of dust goes in the air when your ball lands. This course is called Desert Sands for a reason. Sand in all the fairways and sand in front of the greens
Rough fairways
The staff, pro shop and the greens were quite good. However the tee boxes were hard and the fairways were terrible. lots of bare dirt and mowed weeds. The price was reasonable.
I won't play there again.
