Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

great course for the price
great course for the price. Greens, tee boxes and fairways are in good winter contition
Course is very accomodating
Fairways were in great shape
Greens were not bad.
Staff are very nice
Tough sandtraps
Definitely play again
Not worth it
2 of us played a round today. Course is in horrible condition. No rough at all. Greens on front 9 are un puttable. Back 9 is not much better. Fairways looked ok in spots but were soggy.
They are tgrying to better
The front nine greens were pretty bare, but the way they played made them all right
They are obviously trying to make improvements, which is appreciated. Okay for the money
Poor Condition
I have golfed for over 50 years and I think this course is currently in the worst condition of any course I have ever played. Played there last year several times and the year before that but the course condition had deteriorated considerably - appears to be no weed control and little course maintenance.
Played this course for years. Worst I have ever seen this course. Greens had no grass on many bare spots and full of weeds. Weeds all over the course. Looks like they have no money to spend on maintenance. Overpriced at $38. Paid $22 many times before. Horrible driving range. Will never play again.
Greens need a lot of work
Just played yesterday and found the course real bad on the greens. Peace was also a problem with heavy delays and we have to jump others to play okay. I would say to the staff that this course can improve heavily on the front nines and needs a lot of greens improvements including real bad spots.
the overall course needs major landscape repair, hate to report it but no use sugar coating .however ive played there previous and i am aware of the course condition, therefore i expect that for twenty bucks, riding
Very straight course with little challenge, greens where spotted, fairways where so-so. Course for beginners.
Not great
Greens...tees and fairways were mediocre. However anything not on the fairway was on the crushed stone and these areas extended into what used to be the first cut of rough. Staff in the pro shop and lounge were nice but this is definitely a "Muni"!
Unfortunate
After playing Club West and Legacy, this course was quite a disappointment. The layout allows for lots of shots crossing into other fairways. The course needs a lot of improvements in the fairways and greens especially on the front nine. With so many other beautiful courses in the area, we would not return here.
This course needs water & more care
We enjoyed our round. We were paired with two younger gentleman who were a lot of fun to play with. We have played this course numerous times and find that with the new owners there are positive improvements this year. However the greens on the front nine need a lot of work. They need seeding and water as they are bumpy and have bald patches. The fairways are in decent shape. The price offers good value, many of the better courses are out of our price range as we are holidaying from Canada and hope to play twice a week for 3 months.
rough
There was a lot of bare ground and bumpy greens. It appeared they were working to better the course.
keepin loose
just wanted to get in some swings and try to keep from losing the little bit of muscle memory i have left
had a good time would go again
Tin Cup With the Beer-Stained T-Shirt and All
I think the only reason this place stays open is for the curiosity seekers. One guy described the driving range as 'hitting into a landfill' ... he's right. I am not even sure how they recollect the balls later. The golf cart ran fine, but that was probably because they recently picked-up some other courses used ones. The course layout is a typical parkland style affair, which is fine. There is some 'grass' on the fairways and some 'grass' on the greens. Beyond that, it gets pretty rough calling this a golf course. For an area that has had more rain than usual, several greens were 'sanded' because of bad patches. I am not sure how this place gets to be in the summer (?). Any thing right or left and you've just entered 'The Twilight Zone'--it is the consistency of a cart path without the path. (You can always hope for a weed patch or the other fairway.) As I told my buddy as we warmed-up for the round, 'We've hit the high-rent district now, baby'. We hit something that's for sure.
many city courses are in same condition at this time of the year and they charge a lot more to play with riding cart
