Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Bring Back the Old Owners
Course was worse than bad. Course was in much better shape a year ago. Not sure if they even overseeded this year. Sad!
Yikes
Greens are bumpy and inconsistent, pace was slow, staff was fine, tee boxes uneven, bunkers are concrete, rough is concrete, fairways have large patches of concrete. I’ll wait another 5 years to see if they turn this dump around.
Course Condition is Not so Good
We played Ahwatukee CG twice this week, both times in the mid afternoon. Pace of play was very good, and the staff were great. However, course conditions are questionable as fairways, fringes, and greens are an uneven mix of dormant bermuda grass and overseeded grass. Under normal conditions, the dormant bermuda would be a tan color, but oddly, around the greens, everything is a sort of brilliant green. The uneven conditions make chipping and putting a kind of unpredictable adventure. I know the course came under new ownership in the past year. I think they have some serious work to do to get the turf in good shape. The layout is interesting and challenging enough. I hope they succeed.
New Ownership
Course is under new ownership and they seem to finally be taking care of the golf course. It’s been in such bad shape for so long and already so much better than last year. Can’t wait to see what it looks like next year.
Great place to play.
We play here regularly. Usually play here with my grandson. He says it's his favorite course. Played the week of Christmas with my family. We had a foursome and threesome
We were treated like royally, which we appreciated. We had a great time.
Diamond in a rough... condition
This place has the bones to be a fantastic local course but it wasn't in the best shape. What I was told is that it was recently taken over new management and they are working hard to bring it up to par. You can see that they were working on it but it probably has about another year before you see a good turnaround. If they keep going in the upward direction it will def be busy. So play now before the rates go up and it's too late
The place is old
I haven’t played here in over a year. It’s upsetting because it used to be a gem. The trees are run down. The grass is mediocre. There is sooo much dirt and weeds. I hope it improves.
Staff was good and there was no cart service.
The practice pads are run down and smelly.
Budget pick, beautiful day for golf
Course is definitely improving in conditions. The new ownership is clearly invested in making this a positive playing experience for patrons. The overall course conditions could certainly be better, but for the price point at this time of year, there’s really not any other championship style courses that you could play 9 at locally, let alone 18. Some holes are certainly better maintained than others, and the greens could use a good roll, but overall a good day on the course for me. Staff was super friendly, (cart guys, pro shop staff, bartender, etc.) hoping to come back!
One Step at a Time
Good to see new money on a course with great potential to be much better than it already is. Keep up the good work!!
FORE! The luv of golf
Ahwatukee is a standard parkland layout, lined w houses in the foothills. The layout is welcoming to all levels of golfers.
Our foursome teed off at 11am and finished at 2:45pm. The pace of play was perfect.
The greens and fairways were in good shape. There is undulation in the greens but they rolled true and steady. They are quicker than you think, especially down grain. Knowing when to be aggressive is key to avoiding three putts.
The fairways were decent w good, crisp lies. Use the divot sand. The bunkers are a little thin on sand but fair.
Our only issue was w the tee boxes. They are filled with barren spots that make looking for good footing a problem. The rough is pretty much hardpan so it’s either fairway or playing off the dirt if you tend to spray the ball.
The staff Is super friendly and helpful.
We will play it again. $70 is a bit overpriced for the course but it is a fun layout.
Course Review..
The course conditions is very poor, seem like they painted the green, the green is so dry....
First time player - female
I booked this course for an enjoyable day on a course and
It was Single female golfer and sometimes it’s hard to feel comfortable on a course or in a club house This might not be the best in Phoenix but it was good you can tell they are working on all aspects of the course but for me it was a great day great staff wasn’t too busy and enjoyed my round of golf challenging in a few spots and fu to play still nice views of the area Loved the pro shop and snack shop hotdogs were great
